Hulk Hogan biopic set to star Chris Hemsworth may be picked up by Netflix.

Hey brother! This is definitely a story that this particular Hulkamaniac didn’t see coming but news has began to emerge that not only is Todd Phillips (director of The Hangover trilogy and the forthcoming DC Comics prequel Joker) said to be in early plans to direct a biopic of the legendary wrestler Hulk Hogan, but some surprise news has also arrived with a view to his casting choice for the lead. Apparently Chris Hemsworth will be taking on the role in the film which is said to be on the verge of being picked up by Netflix.

Hogan has been the focus of a few scandals over the past few years but the The Hollywood Reporter says that the biopic won’t be focusing on recent events and will instead centre on Hogan’s rise to fame. The film is being described as a Hulkamania origin story and in addition to serving as an executive producer on the film, Hogan is also on board to act as a consultant, with Hemsworth and Bradley Cooper, who’s said to be on board as producer. Phillips had a producer’s role in Cooper’s directorial debut, A Star Is Born and the two have been firm friends since The Hangover.
The script will come from Scott Silver, whose credits include 8 Mile, The Fighter and Phillips’ upcoming Joker movie.

When Hogan was previously interviewed in 2013, he expressed interest in Hemsworth playing him,

“We need a serious, serious actor that knows what he’s doing,” he said. “You know who I thought would be good? That guy that did that action movie Thor.”

One person who doesn’t seem too pleased at this news is Hogan’s old rival The Iron Sheik who tweeted that Hemsworth was a “jabroni” and that he planned to suplex him when he sees him next.

No word yet if Hogan’s legendary appearance as Rocky III’s Thunderlips will feature in the movie.
