Bond 25 officially announced with Danny Boyle as director.

James Bond will return! Well we all knew that anyway but now it’s officially been announced that Daniel Craig’s iteration of the character will be back with Danny Boyle in the director’s chair. The script is by Boyle’s Trainspotting alumni John Hodge and is said to be based on Boyle’s idea for a Bond film which is said to have been the ultimate deciding factor in his appointment as director.
Whether this will be a stand-alone idea or a continuation of the Blofeld storyline line that was alluded to have run throughout Craig’s reign as the secret agent in SPECTRE is unknown at this time, as is the title of the upcoming feature.

With Sony Pictures’ International distribution rights to the franchise having now expired, the new film sparked a frantic bidding war and Universal/Comcast were the eventual victors. MGM will remain the American distributor in partnership with Annapurna through the joint venture they signed last year and will also retain the digital and worldwide television distribution rights.
The deal was closed by EON’s Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli who released the following joint statement:

“We are delighted to announce that the exceptionally talented Danny Boyle will be directing Daniel Craig in his fifth outing as James Bond in the 25th installment of the franchise. We will begin shooting Bond 25 at Pinewood Studios in December with our partners at MGM and thrilled that Universal will be our international distributor.”
