In what must be the one of the most gleefully surprising of stocking fillers we’ve seen, a book based on one of the all-time Christmas films is due for release next month. In a delightfully clever move, a book based on the classic 1988 action film Die Hard is due for release. Nothing special about that you say? It just so happens that this particular tome will be in the form of a children’s book and tell the story of New York cop, John McClaine and his Christmas Eve adventure in Nakatomi Plaza told in the style of Night Before Christmas. The book is entitled “A Die Hard Christmas: The illustrated Holiday Classic” and here is Amazon’s description of the book,
“All John McClane wants for Christmas is to reunite with his estranged family. But when his wife’s office holiday party turns into a deadly hostage situation, he has to save her life before he can get home in time for Christmas! The unconventional fan-favorite movie Die Hard is now an illustrated storybook, complete with machine guns, European terrorists, and a cop who’s forced to rely on all his cunning and skills (and the help of a fellow officer) to save the day. Based on the classic ‘Night Before Christmas’ poem and filled with whimsical illustrations, this cleverly reimagined homage is destined to become a holiday classic.”
Although written and illustrated as a children’s book it’s clearly been made with adults in mind and those lucky enough to find a copy in their Xmas stocking will be able to read a new and amusing retelling of the film that redefined the action movie genre in a refreshingly unique fashion.
A Die Hard Christmas is written by comedian Doogie Horner, illustrated by JJ Harrison and is available October 17th from Amazon.
