Disney clarify the situation regarding future Star Wars spin-off films.

Star Wars fans are certainly having their emotions toyed with of late. We recently brought you a report originating from Collider that Lucasfilm and Disney had come to the conclusion that they would shelve any future stand-alone Star Wars movies after the disappointing box office returns for Solo: A Star Wars Story which has made just $340 million since its release just over four weeks ago meaning that it may be the first film in the franchise to actually make a loss.

Despite previous reports, speaking to the Disney-affiliated ABC News, sources at the studio have said that the report, is ‘inaccurate’ and that the studio has plans for multiple Star Wars movies in the pipeline that are yet to be announced. Unfortunately there were no specific titles given for these projects and fans will be left to wonder whether the rumours of a Boba Fett spin-off with Logan helmer James Mangold, or the Obi-Wan Kenobi film by Stephen Daldry are included.

Your friends at Film ‘89 Towers urge you to go and see Solo and can only hope that the prequel that many of us here were completely unenthusiastic about, prior to actually seeing it, gets a chance for its story to continue in a second film.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is on general release now.
