Fourth and final season of AMC’s Preacher to premiere in August.

The end is nigh for AMC’s comic book adaptation, with Preacher coming to its conclusion with Season 4, premiering this August.

Executive producer Seth Rogen took to Instagram to make the announcement where he confirmed August 8th as the premiere date for the climactic season.

The series adapts the book by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, and follows preacher Jesse Custer (played by Dominic Cooper), his ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Irish vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) on their literal search for God.

The series has shown promise throughout its brief run, however it’s often fallen foul of tedium particularly through its second season. Fans of the source material may bemoan the fact that the show is coming to a brisk end if only for the fact that so much of the comic will never make it to the small screen. It has so far not been able to live up to its potential, and it might be too late to turn things around.

The show never matched the highs of Breaking Bad or The Walking Dead from a commercial standpoint (though perhaps in today’s climate, it never could), but hopefully it can go out with a literal bang and leave a significant mark on the minds of its fans.
