Disney’s acquisition of Fox is finally official!

Well it’s been a long road but it’s finally official, the X-Men are at last going to join the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney’s whopping $71.3 billion bid (which followed Comcast’s rival bid of $65 billion) has been officially approved with the shareholders voting today in agreement of the deal.

The deal will see Disney getting Fox Studios assets including their share of the Marvel roster, including the aforementioned X-Men, Deadpool and the Fantastic Four, as well as James Cameron’s upcoming Avatar franchise and the FOX TV networks which includes hit shows such as The Simpsons and Family Guy.

It’s reported that Fox shareholders approved the proposal within just eight minutes and at the Disney meeting, shareholders approved the acquisition in just 11 minutes.

This will be music to the ears of Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige who recently stated the following before the deal was cemented;

“I just sit waiting for a call yay or nay from people far above me,” Feige said on whether the Disney and Fox Studios deal can expand Marvel’s universe of characters.

One thing that is known following the ratification of the deal is that Marvel Studios will be recasting Wolverine, with Cosmic Book News stating that an earlier report has been released detailing how the part will go to a new actor in place of Hugh Jackman who recently retired from the role following his swan-song in last year’s Logan.

Disney and Marvel executives are said to be particularity excited about the possibility of recasting Wolverine and bringing him into the MCU fold.
